Areva`s transmission and distribution (T&D) division has been awarded a Rs 4000 million contract in India by state utility Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation (UPPTCL). AREVA will build a 765 kv extra high-voltage (EHV) substation at the Anpara `D` thermal power plant1 in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
The new 765 kv EHV substation will improve power transfer capacity and reliability from eastern Uttar Pradesh, the regional power generation hub, to the western part of the state where it is consumed massively. The project is scheduled for completion by end 2011.
